Hello Gmail
I’ve had a Gmail account for awhile, but I’ve never really used it. I already have so many email accounts to check. Until yesterday, they were all consolidated in Outlook. After taking another look at Gmail, I’ve decided to give it a go. The feature that sealed the deal for me was being able to impersonate my other email accounts. When I send an e-mail, I can click the From address that I want to use. That was my main reason for using Outlook. Of course, I had to have my own SMTP server, which was a pain. With Gmail, I can eliminate Outlook and Ypops from desktop, and eliminate SMTP from my server.
I have most of my accounts set up to automatically forward to Gmail. I’ve saved my main account, because I want to have some time to play around with Gmail before I go completely off Outlook. But so far I really like it.

hmm, how do you get Yahoo to forward mail, I havent seen it do that.
Does Gmail really impersonate or just change the “reply-to” address?

You have to upgrade to Yahoo! Mail Plus, which is $19.95 per year, to forward your Yahoo! mail. The bonus is you get ad-free e-mail. I figured the $20 was worth it to give me time to get my e-mail moved over to Gmail.
When you use the “impersonation” feature, the recipient sees something like “me@me.com” on behalf of “me@gmail.com” or “me@me.com” sent by “me@gmail.com”. So the recipient can see your Gmail address, but the From line shows the impersonated address. The reply-to defaults to the impersonated account, but you can set the reply-to to anything you want.

I dont think Y! mail – or any mail is worth paying for. Thanks for the info though.
yeah, have used that feature of Gmail – but find it rather irritating that my Gmail addy is shown up as well (more so since it can confuse ppl).

Gmail is exciting. It incorporates much in it. And, it’s settings page is clear and easy to use. And, Google is a great company, albeit with extremely dangerous world-domination motives.
